T he days are slowly getting shorter. Autumn is spreading everywhere and the autumn mood is slowly emerging. I don't know how you are, but my body is adjusting more and more to the new season. After an active time like summer, when we are out and about a lot more, things are slowly turning again.
I have personally noticed for a few days or even weeks how my body needs more self-care time. From the point of view of Ayurveda (Ayurveda is a 5000 year old health teaching from India. Ayurveda is about the whole thing and about the flow of energy, so that no blockages arise, but energy can flow and balance prevails) autumn is also the so-called Vata time . The air is cooler, drier and there is more wind. Our skin often feels drier, more brittle and cracked as it is exposed to new temperatures. The body has to adjust energetically to a new season.
In order to find the balance and not to unbalance your own Vata too much, it is important to ground yourself, to come to rest and not to block the flow of energy, but to support it.
Autumn is a wonderful time to take care of yourself again, to take time for self-care, do yoga, read a book, prepare warm and nourishing food and do something nice for yourself in general.
Today I have a delicious soul food recipe for you to go with it. Personally, I'm a huge pancakes fan. Today there is something similar for you. I created a vegan Kaiserschmarrn recipe that is so delicious, I just had to share it with you.
Kaiserschmarrn is a preparation made from pancake or crepes dough and is one of the most famous sweet dishes in Austrian cuisine.
The wonderful thing about Kaiserschmarrn is that you can enjoy it at any time of the day. Whether for breakfast, brunch, in the evening or at lunchtime, Kaiserschmarrn always works and tastes incredibly good with it.
Delicious vegan Kaiserschmarrn without industrial sugar
Ingredients (for 1 to 2 servings):
- 100g buckwheat flour or spelled flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 chia egg (mix 3 tablespoons of water with 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and let soak for a few minutes)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 110ml oat milk or almond milk
- about 1 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
First prepare the chia egg. Mix 3 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and set aside briefly so that the seeds swell. Then mix the flour, salt, cinnamon and baking powder in a bowl so that there are no more lumps. Then add the milk, the maple syrup and the chia egg and stir everything well again with a mixer or whisk until a liquid batter is formed.
Heat a frying pan and add a little coconut oil, add the batter to the pan and fry on one side for a few minutes. As soon as the dough is a little firmer, you can turn it over and divide the dough into pieces with the ladle and fry everything until golden brown for a few minutes.
Serve immediately with applesauce, warm plums or topping of your choice.
I now wish you a lot of fun copying the Kaiserschmarrn and I would of course be happy if you tag me on Instagram with @deboraswellness or #deboraswellness.
All the best,
