Iam so happy that Kerry from Eco Beauty Edit agreed to do this talk. I've been following her on Instagram for a while now and love her posts about skin. I've been able to learn a lot about skin products and she also inspires me daily with her videos and makeup tips.

Get inspired yourself and take your 5 minutes time out, grab your favorite cup of tea, hot chocolate or coffee and enjoy Coffee Talk.

DW: Would you like to share with readers what exactly Eco Beauty Edit is?

Kerry: I'd love to. As an experienced beauty therapist and makeup artist, I wanted to create a way to help people make healthier and more sustainable beauty choices.

I myself am passionate about living an organic, minimalist lifestyle that combines wellness, health and holistic beauty. Since I wanted to share this, Eco Beauty Edit was born out of that.

DW: How did it come about that you founded Eco Beauty Edit? What was the reason or your motivation for it?

Kerry: I started Eco Beauty Edit to help people overhaul their beauty routine and find the best healthy products.

The idea came about when I was on maternity leave and was able to help so many mom friends. I figured I needed to help more people. I wanted an outlet for all the things I was researching for others - a place to aggregate my recommendations. I found myself helping people with the same questions over and over again - weaning a baby, best natural mascara, how to fight pimples. That's when it occurred to me that I should share this with others and that it could really help someone.

DW: Is there a reason you're so passionate about skin health?

Kerry: I've always been interested in faces. I've worked in a salon since I was 14 and love seeing all the transformations. A simple eyebrow shape can make someone very happy. I struggled with breakouts and love learning, so I find it very interesting.

DW: I often see that diet plays a major role when it comes to skin. How are skin, nutrition and overall wellness related?

Kerry: Everything you put into your body has an effect. Every thought you have and every wellness step you take impacts how you feel and how your body works for you.

DW: Do you like to give readers some tips, for anyone who would like to start a toxic-free beauty lifestyle, do you have some simple advice on how or where to start?

Kerry: Yes, of course. I would start with deodorant, body wash and lotion. Those are all very important products to use naturally. Deodorants should be such that they deodorize the underarm area and don't shut down your elimination system. Our body is remarkable and can handle anything, we should not be bothered with these things. Toxins need to be eliminated under the arms, and when you use an antiperspirant, you prevent that. The waste will then build up and affect your lymphatic system. Use a deodorant like Dr. Hauschka Rose - it really works.

Personal care products are used on a large portion of our skin and the skin absorbs up to 70% of the product applied. By switching out shower gel and lotion, you can really cut down on toxins by quite a bit.

You should also drink clean water and work to eliminate all plastic in your home.

DW: Very exciting, thank you very much. So what are the most important factors when it comes to a non-toxic beauty lifestyle?

Kerry: The products have to work. Otherwise, I won't use them. They have to smell good and not contain artificial fragrances. They have to last well and they can't have parabens in them. For me, beauty products are like a beautiful self-care ritual. They need to appeal to our senses, but not add to the toxic load we are already exposed to.

DW: I find it very overwhelming sometimes when it comes to finding the right beauty product, and I guess many have the same problem. Do you have any advice for me and the readers? How do you find the right product for yourself?

Kerry: Feel free to check out my website and see the skin recommendations there. You'll find great clean brands to try. Just look for what appeals to you and stick with clean, minimal products.

DW: Thank you so much. I'll be sure to do that. Do you have a final tip you'd like to share with our readers?

Kerry: Yeah, I would say if anyone has been thinking about switching to non-toxic products, it's best to just start. There will never be a better time than now. Start with one replacement at a time, don't waste products - when the old products are used up, it's best to replace them with something cleaner afterwards. For those who need help, feel free to follow me on Instagram at @ecobeautyedits and also write me there should he or she have any specific questions.

You should also consider doing a detox every change of season to regenerate your body. I have a blog about this on my website www.ecobeautyedit.com

DW: Thank you so much for your time and your wonderful tips and advice. I can only recommend everyone to check out your website and also follow you on Instagram for more information and help.
